Nordictrack FS14i Freestride Trainer – Key Benefits:

Upgrade Your Training Experience With an Extra-Large Screen

The FS14i elliptical comes with the largest screen Nordictrack puts on their ellipticals – 14 inches across. It’s full-color, HD and touch-screen friendly.

You can connect to iFit from the screen and stream daily workout classes. The class instructor will even auto-adjust your elliptical incline, decline and resistance in real time for a more interactive training class experience. It’s the next best thing to being in a fitness class!

With iFit you can also run trails all over the world and watch the scenery pass you by in the extra-large screen for a virtual reality training experience (more on iFit below).

The screen also tilts so you can find the best viewing angle for you. And to stay cool during those long workouts, there’s also a dual-speed console fan.

Adjustable Stride Length – Up to 32 Inches

With a regular elliptical trainer, you’re locked into a fixed stride length (so you have to fit your natural running gait into that stride).

But with the FS14i elliptical you have an adjustable stride. So you can find the right stride length for you – and even get strides of up to 32 inches long. This opens up a ton of possibilities as the machine adjusts to your natural stride – and not the other way around.

This makes for a more ergonomically correct and comfortable workout with less strain on your hips, knees and back.

Because you set the stride, you can use this elliptical as a step machine with short up and down strides, an elliptical with jogging natural stride – or even a treadmill with running/sprinting extra long strides.

That’s basically 3-motions-in-1. So you get a lot more out of this elliptical than a standard crosstrainer.

Travel World-Famous Trails with iFit Coach

With iFit Coach you can run trails all over the world – from the beaches of Hawaii to the chic streets of Paris – and watch real life landmarks pass you by in the console screen.

You can also follow famous personal trainers as they lead you through workouts from the Swiss Alps to the temples of Thailand

Can’t get to the gym?

No problem.

Stream a workout class directly from your console. There are elliptical workouts included – plus you can get everything from yoga to stretching to HIIT Training workouts.

There are thousands of workouts to choose from – and they’re always adding more. You can even now take LIVE classes from the comfort of your own home and follow your favorite trainers in real time, which is pretty cool.

Maximize Your Training with Incline and Decline

Incline and decline changes the slope of your running path. It helps you work different muscle groups, giving you a more optimal, effective workout. The FS14i gives you power incline from 0 to 10 degrees and power decline of 0 to minus 10 degrees.

You can adjust the incline yourself with the one-touch buttons on the console. The incline will also auto-adjust to match the iFit world trail that you’re running for a more virtual reality training feel.

Low Impact Workout

Many people don’t realize that another benefit of the Freestride elliptical is that it is ultra-low impact.

Unlike a traditional elliptical trainer, the footpedals on the FS14i Freestrider ride on belts, rather than the traditional rails attached to the crank. This gives you more of a feeling of “running on air” and is smooth with nearly zero impact.

This design is great if you are prone to shin splints or knee problems.

Integrated Handle Controls

Don’t want to interrupt your upper body workout? No problem – you can easily change your resistance and/or incline settings with the integrated moving arm bar controls.

This makes it easy to make quick changes on the fly without stopping your workout to reach up to the console.

More Resistance Levels

The Nordictrack FS14 also comes with more resistance levels than the other Freestrider models (26 vs 24) – giving you more room to grow with the machine as your fitness level improves.

Nordictrack FS14i Freestrider – What You Should Know:

iFit Subscription

There are 2 versions of iFit – a free version with a few built-in workouts – or the full monthly subscription version.

To get all of the benefits of iFit including the live iFit classes and thousands of world trail workouts, you’ll need the full paid monthly subscription.

You don’t need the full subscription version to use this machine. But it’s something to know if you want to take the online classes.

Bottom Line?

If you’re looking for the ultimate Freestrider with all the bells and whistles – then the FS14i is a great option.  You’ll never “adapt” to one motion and can constantly challenge your body (and burn more calories) with this machine.

The incline and decline- as well as the adjustable stride – will constantly challenge your body to burn more calories.

Plus, with the largest screen of any Freestride model, you get a more immersive training experience when running world trails or streaming fitness classes to your home.

While it may be overkill if you want a simple elliptical trainer, if you’re looking for a next-level machine this is one to consider.
